Archives Signature Series!

First of all, what a great name for a product!

In the spirit of always thinking of new ways to collect your favorite sets - a few years ago I found out about this product and have been obsessed ever since. I specifically collect any subjects that have signed their 2006 A&G card in any year of the Topps Archives Signature Series sets.

Extreme focus has SO many benefits. But it also has many many faults, one of which being that I am very limited to what I can add to my collection with this discipline. Solution? Find tangential ways to add to your collection! This is one way and I'll document at least one other in a future post.

I added in some details I've gathered below if anyone is interested in reading!

From what I can tell there are at least 111 cards of the original 350 that could have already potentially been produced for this set. I have visual proof of 77 and so far I’ve been able to find 73 of them. I will always be looking for more so please keep me in mind if you ever see any in the wild.

Archives Stats

  • product since 2015

  • 2016 was an All Star edition

  • active and retired editions since 2017

  • 110 of the 2006 player checklist have been included over the years

  • so far I can only confirm that 75 of them have signed their 2006 card

  • Only 6 players signed cards in every year of this products history; Smoltz, Chipper, Clemens, Glavine, Cal Ripken

  • missing Giambi, Guerrero and Smoltz from the "existing" list

  • Dream cards, if they exist, would be Ernie Banks, Greg Maddux, Frank Robinson, Bob Feller, Stan Musial, Brooks Robinson, Tony LaRussa, Albert Pujols (Ever seen any of those??)
